We all love kale chips here, but Dal doesn’t like store bought, LO does but they’re SO expensive! This is why we love making them homemade. They’re an easy side dish or snack. Hope you love as much as we do!
Ingredients
- 3 cups green kale (not dinosaur kale) (full but not tightly packed)
- 2 Tablespoons avocado oil (just enough to fully, lightly coat all pieces
- 2-3 tablespoons sesame seeds (I did 3 tablespoons)
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1/2-3/4 teaspoon salt (start with 1/2 and adjust as needed after cooking)
- Dash of fresh ground pepper
Method
- Rinse kale, and thoroughly dry
- Broil 5-7 min. Start with 3 min and check every 1-2 min after that depending on how hot and fast your broiler works
Notes:
- I love using the prewashed, prestressed kale. I don’t like eating large pieces of kale as chips. You can obviously buy whole kale and chop into shredded pieces or leave as large pieces of you prefer
- Most pre-washed kale still has dirt or bugs so still rinse it
- I like to wash all my kale, put in a salad spinner, discard water, and keep in fridge until use. However you do it, kale must be COMPLETELY dry before cooking so it doesn’t turn to mush.
- You’re technically not supposed to put parchment paper in oven on broil. As long as mine is fully covered with food and it’s for a short period, mine tends to be fine, but this will depend on how hot your oven gets at broil and how many and how long you’re cooking. If you do choose to use, keep a close eye on it!!
LO, Dal, and I all love these! Hope you do too!
